# Filament Credit System

## Filament Credits&#x20;

Filament Credits is our rewards currency, which will have a number of use-cases on Filament.&#x20;

## Airdrops vs Credits

While airdrops are seen as a form of user acquisition, they [often](https://x.com/buntyverse/status/1892116611932262769) fail to attract and retain genuine, long-term users:

* **Mercenary behaviour:** Airdrop hunters often sell their tokens immediately after launch, negatively impacting the project and the long-term contributors.
* **Limited real value:** Many systems fail to encourage meaningful protocol usage or engagement beyond the initial airdrop claim.
* **Ineffective user acquisition:** Organized groups and bots game the system, sidelining genuine users and concentrating rewards among limited participants.
* **Poor user retention:** User engagement often plummets after the token generation event (TGE) or once incentives are distributed.

Contrary to popular opinion ‘Airdrops/Points are dead’, Filament Credits will enable users to engage in the growth of the protocol while unlocking various features for the users.

**What Makes Our Credit System Stand Out?**

1\. **Real Value:** No more pointless points. Our credits can be transferred, redeemed, and used within the Filament ecosystem immediately after the threshold credits are distributed.\
\
2\. **Earn Credits Through Real Engagement:** Earn credits by doing what you love— trading, locking liquidity, referring friends, providing feedback, finding bugs, and creating content.\
\
3\. **Limited Duration Campaigns:** We’ll distribute credits weekly, with a cap on how much each account can earn to keep things fair. Plus, we’ll communicate weekly action points in advance so you know what to aim for.&#x20;

\
4\. **Leaderboards and Transparency**: Each category will have well-defined guidelines for the focus activities during a specific week. Credits for each category will be rewarded based on a dedicated leaderboard - Community, Product (User and Partners) and Security.\
\
5\. **Proof of User:** While it is important to stress-test the product through bots and spam attacks (which will have dedicated incentive pools), users will need to participate in Proof of User campaigns to unlock the weekly credits - more details on this later.

### Unlocking the Power of Credits

So, what can you do with these credits as a community experiment for Filament token utilities? A few examples:

* **Vote on Favourite Assets:** Want to see a specific asset on our platform? Use your credits to vote for it.
* **Unlock Features:** Access to advanced features like strategy vaults, guild creation, referral multiplier, fee rebates, and more.
* **Mint Supernaturals NFT:** Supernaturals has been growing as the collective identity for the Filament community, and we want to create more inclusive ecosystem interactions with the most active and long-term community members - Supernaturals PFP collection comes with its own added benefits.
* **Airdrop Redemption:** Early adopters can use credits to unlock different redemption options, aligning long-term involvement with rewards.

Early participation will yield higher rewards, encouraging users to get involved at the beginning and double down on their participation even after the credit duration is completed (as user-driven competitions can be facilitated to win credits).<br>

A total of 4.8M Credits will be distributed as per the following distributions:
